I have greatly enjoyed this book. I started the first in the series as something free and fun to read, and now I look forward to reading the new one each time one comes out. On my Christmas break from school teaching, this was the first thing I decided to read for fun in my free time, and it did not disappoint. This one was my favorite in the series.... I think. The author has really pulled together elements from previous books that make it a bit more developed and complex than before. It is interesting, clean, exciting, and a developed but easy read. I would write more, but I am afraid I would spoil it for readers. If you haven't read it, start from the beginning. :)Product details

" Power" the fourth book in the captivating " The Hero Chronicles" begins with Nicholas and Cora's return to Mt.Vernon where Thusians are gearing up for the ChriÖ Trials which will prove "The 4" have the power to protect mankind from the violence of the Seekers.
Before Nicholas is swept up in the Thusian tests he starts Vanderbilt University with Elle, his friends and guardians joining the TABS ( The Thusian Architects and Builders) and uncovering more Thusian secrets. But even at University he faces one challenge after another as he confronts a bully, is charged with cheating and is assaulted at a Halloween party. The turmoil in his life further intensifies as he tries to resolve his feelings about Elle's friendship with Genevieve, his Thusian companion who's in love with him.
And when the ChriÖ Trials do arrive the action continues after Nicholas and his friends arrive at Valcary Hill in Scotland where he not only has to complete three tests, but his life and Elle's are threatened by Xavier who tries to undermine the emerging power that could defeat his Seekers.
Tim Mettey sets the stage with a society called the Thusians who instinctively sacrifice themselves to save others. When 4 Thusians rise who will bring balance and harmony, the sinister Xavier and his two principle Seekers fight to kill one of them so the Unholy 6 will be created and bring chaos to the world. As the conflict mounts the battle moves to Scotland where Nicholas not only prepares to be tested mentally and physically but struggles against the intolerance of the Thusians who have to attend the Trials as well as the Council. This well-written story fires the imagination as violence and death creep closer only to be thwarted by the friendship, love and faith that glues the four together.
The plot progresses quickly and smoothly as Nicholas and his friends barely escape fireworks that go astray, make a harrowing rescue on an Illinois bridge, and find themselves in a fight between rival gangs. As the tension and suspense escalates Nicholas not only faces an emotional roll-coaster ride in his romance with Elle because he fears he's endangering her life, but also has to unravel his feelings for Genevieve, his Thusian companion who he's grown to respect and care for. And when you think Nicholas's problems can't get any worse, the story ends in a violent and exciting confrontation that leaves a further dilemma to be resolved.
The characters continue to add energy, passion and drama as they face not only Seeker attacks but prejudice and questionable behaviour within the Thusian Council. Nicholas Keller at times feels alone, and helpless struggling with panic attacks that leave him vulnerable. Kind and compassionate, but impulsive he will do anything to protect those he loves. Elle Canan his girlfriend is strong-willed, tough but often secretive while the Thusian, Genevieve Pereira can be caustic, serious and vulnerable in her desire to have a place in Nicholas's life and heart. Mark Siegel grows in determination and confidence as the new Thusian Keeper, showing a courageous spirit at the Trials. It is these characters and many more that fuel the realism of a series you can't put down from the first page to the last.
Like all of the "Hero Chronicles", I loved "The Power" although I think it needs a cover that would better illustrate the imaginative story within its pages. I rate it highly and will look for the next chapter in Nicholas's struggles to thwart Xavier's plans.

I class this as a must read. The book series is amazing and Power is one of if not the best in the series so far
One of my favorite book series, I spend my whole night reading this. Great book from a great author. Can't wait for the next book, hopefully more to come!
having just completed book 4 of this series, it is compelling and intriguing while also understandable. there are characters of all types, some who remind me of my friends, with surprises in their roles that make me want to quickly get the next book...
Another awesome book in this series... the whole series is worth the read
Would've been 5 stars except I didn't know when I started to read the series that it didn't go beyond this book and everything is unresolved, don't know if or when another book if coming...argh!!
